The present invention relates to a surgical device including a hand-held instrument (1) provided with a rotary motor (2), a drive shaft (4) on which is mounted a removable hand-held part comprising a tool-holder and a tool. The instrument is, moreover, provided with an electronic motor-control module comprising a digital electronic circuit, means for controlling the rotation of said motor (2), and an electric power source (12). According to the invention, the instrument (1) also comprises means for automatically detecting the type of tool-holder installed. The digital electronic circuit is provided with at least one memory containing motor (2) control parameters selected automatically according to the type of tool-holder detected by the automatic detection means.La présente invention concerne un dispositif chirurgical comportant un instrument à main (1) muni d'un moteur rotatif (2), un arbre d'entrainement (4) sur lequel est montée une pièce à main amovible comprenant un porte-outil et un outil. L'instrument est, de plus, muni d'un module électronique d'asservissement du moteur comprenant un circuit électronique numérique, de moyens de commande de rotation dudit moteur (2), et d'une source d'alimentation électrique (12). Selon l'invention, l'instrument (1) comprend, en outre, des moyens de détection automatique du type de porte-outil monté. Le circuit électronique numérique est muni d'au moins une mémoire contenant des paramètres d'asservissement du moteur (2) choisis automatiquement en fonction du type de porte-outil détecté par les moyens de détection automatique.
