PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice transplanter designed to make the whole length thereof shorter in the condition of putting a seedling planting device to changeover to a housing posture. SOLUTION: This rice transplanter has such a construction that a seedling planting device 2 is linked in a vertically movable manner via a link mechanism 3 to the rear portion of the sulky self-propelled main machine 1, and there is provided an actuator 4 functioning to vertically move the seedling planting device 2; wherein the seedling planting device 2 is designed to be switchable between a working posture spread left and right so as to be capable of making a seedling planting operation and a housing posture with its lateral width contracted by a swing motion about a longitudinal axis at a transversely midway point and to be liftable, in its housing posture, to a housing position close to a point just above the axle 8a of the rear wheel 8 of the self-propelled main machine 1.
