A temperature sensing system comprises an aural temperature sensing device, a secondary temperature sensing device and a central processing system. The aural device includes an aural temperature sensor arranged to obtain a first plurality of readings of a user's temperature, a memory for storing at least a subset of the first plurality of readings and a communications interface. The secondary temperature sensing device includes a temperature sensor arranged in or on the body of the user to obtain a second plurality of readings of the temperature of the user, wherein the secondary temperature sensor operates substantially simultaneously with the aural temperature sensor, a memory for storing at least a subset of the second plurality of readings and a communications interface. The central processing system includes a communications interface for receiving from the sensing devices the subsets of the first and second plurality of readings and a processor arranged to analyse the subsets of the first and second plurality of readings. The aural temperature sensor may be a tympanic temperature sensor. The secondary temperature sensor may be a skin, vaginal, subcutaneous or an oral temperature sensor. In embodiments, faulty or irrelevant data may be filtered.
