Disclosed is a therapeutic agent for ulcerative colitis, which comprises mizoribine, has a therapeutic effect on ulcerative colitis, does not have concerns about the occurrence of an adverse side effect during the maintenance of remission of ulcerative colitis, and can be administered for a long period. Specifically disclosed is a therapeutic agent for ulcerative colitis, which comprises mizoribine. The therapeutic agent can be used for an ulcerative colitis patient who has received a leukocytapheresis therapy and is not administered with any immunosuppression agent other than mizoribine at least after the leukocytapheresis therapy is started. The administration of therapeutic agent to the patient is started at a point of time which lies during the application of the leukocytapheresis therapy and after the clinical condition of the patient is ameliorated. The therapeutic agent is administered to the patient at least once a day so that the maximum blood mizoribine level in the patient becomes not lower than 0.6 µg/ml and lower than 1.5 µg/ml.본 발명은, 궤양성 대장염에 대한 치료 효과가 있고, 또한, 궤양성 대장염의 완해 유지에 있어서 부작용을 걱정할 필요가 없으며, 장기 투여가 가능한 미조리빈을 함유하는 궤양성 대장염 치료약을 제공하는 것을 과제로 한다. 본 발명은, 미조리빈을 함유하는 궤양성 대장염 치료약으로서, 이 치료약은 백혈구 제거 요법을 시행하고 있고, 적어도 백혈구 제거 요법의 개시 이후에는 미조리빈 이외의 면역 억제제를 투약하지 않는 궤양성 대장염 환자에게 이용되며, 상기 치료약의 투여 개시 시기가 백혈구 제거 요법의 시행 중으로서 임상 증상이 개선된 시점 이후이고, 미조리빈의 최고 혈중 농도가 0.6 ㎍/㎖ 이상 1.5 ㎍/㎖ 미만이 되도록 적어도 1회/1일로 투여하는 것을 특징으로 하는 미조리빈을 함유하는 궤양성 대장염 치료약에 관한 것이다.
