A surgical device for operating tissue comprising an end effector, a disposable shaft assembly and an interface assembly. The shaft assembly includes an articulating section that is operable to provide end effector deflection relative to the longitudinal axis of the shaft. The interface assembly includes a plurality of pivotable base sections. The interface assembly includes a plurality of drive components associated with a drive shaft driven by an external system, each drive component being associated with a base section. The drive component is operable to cause rotation of one or both of the shaft or end effector and movement of the end effector components. The drive component is further operable to cause articulation of the joint section.
