PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fill an embolic coil in an aneurysm with good operability when the embolic coil is introduced in the aneurysm and filled by using a catheter.SOLUTION: An embolic coil 1 is formed by wire 2 being spirally wound up and is filled in an aneurysm. The embolic coil is configured such that a large diameter coil section 7 being wound up with a large diameter and a small diameter coil section 9 being wound up with a diameter smaller than that of the large diameter coil section are alternately present in the longitudinal direction Y of the embolic coil. The large diameter coil section 7 includes: a first region 11 where an outer diameter D of the unit coil 4 is gradually increased in diameter from the position of one end Y1 side in the longitudinal direction Y and reaches the largest diameter part 31 and a second region 13 where the outer diameter D of the unit coil 4 is gradually increased in diameter from the position of the other end Y2 side in the longitudinal direction Y and reaches the largest diameter part 31.
