PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a composition useful to diagnose and treat conditions correlated with an abnormal level of interferon-&alpha； (IFN&alpha；) expression in a subject.SOLUTION: The present invention comprises: a composition that includes antibodies that selectively neutralize a bioactivity of at least two interferon alpha ("IFN&alpha；") protein subtypes for the protein subtypes A, 2, B2, C, F, G, H2, I, J1, K, 4a, 4b and WA, but does not neutralize at least one bioactivity of IFN&alpha； protein subtype D, and variants, derivatives and fragments thereof； and a method for preparing the same. Examples of bioactivity for measurement include activation of the MxA promoter or antiviral activity. Because of their unique selectivity and affinity, the antibodies are useful to detect IFN&alpha； subtypes in sample or tissue and/or for therapeutic applications that include but are not limited to the treatment and/or amelioration of an IFN&alpha；-related disorder, such as SLE, lupus, type I diabetes, psoriasis, AIDS and graft versus host Disease.【課題】対象者における異常レベルのインターフェロン-α（IFNα）の発現と相関性を有する症状の診断及び治療に有用な方法並びに組成物を提供する。【解決手段】本発明は、少なくとも2つのインターフェロンアルファ（“IFNα”）タンパク質サブタイプの生物活性を、タンパク質サブタイプA、2、B2、C、F、G、H2、I、J1、K、4a、4b及びWAについて選択的に中和するが、INFαタンパク質サブタイプDの少なくとも1つの生物活性は中和しない抗体、並びにその変種、誘導体及びフラグメントを含む組成物及び前記を作成する方法を含む。測定のための生物活性の例は、MxAプロモーターの活性化又は抗ウイルス活性である。本発明の抗体の固有の選択性のために、前記は、サンプル又は組織中のIFNαサブタイプの検出及び/又は治療的用途に有用である。前記用途には、INFα関連異常（例えばSLE、狼瘡、I型糖尿病、乾癬、エイズ及び対宿主性移植片病）の治療及び/又は緩和が含まれるが、ただしこれらに限定されない。【選択図】なし
