PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pad-type absorbent article having an absorber held between an exterior sheet and an inner surface sheet, the exterior sheet having an indication which allows a user to intuitively understand the shape and orientation of an absorbent article or an absorber so as to prevent the user from being confused or making a mistake about which side of the absorbent article should be the front or rear when wearing the absorbent article.SOLUTION: A pad-type absorbent article 1 comprises: an exterior sheet 3； an inner surface sheet； and an absorber 2 which is sandwiched between the exterior sheet and the inner surface sheet and which absorbs and holds body fluid. A contour of the absorbent article or the absorber is a vertical shape, with a varying lateral width of a contour of the absorber in a direction perpendicular to the longer direction.
