PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide nanoemulsions comprising botulinum toxin.SOLUTION: Provided herein is a nanoemulsion comprising a botulinum toxin, where the nanoemulsion is prepared by high pressure microfluidization, and whose particle size distribution is exclusively between 10 nm and 300nm, preferably about 10-25 nm, more preferably about 10-200 nm, further preferably about 10-150 nm, further more preferably about 10-100 nm, particularly preferably about 10-50 nm. An embodiment is a nanoemulsion where the botulinum toxin is incorporated in an albumin matrix, which is useful for esthetic or medical treatment of muscular contracture state. For example, botulinum toxin may relax facial muscles such that skin wrinkles become smoother and less noticeable.
