The objective of the present invention is to provide a hyaluronic acid production promoter that has no safety issues. Another objective of the present invention is to provide a food/drink for promoting the production of hyaluronic acid and a cosmetic for promoting the production of hyaluronic acid that contain said substance. The hyaluronic acid production promoter, the food/drink for promoting the production of hyaluronic acid, and the cosmetic for promoting the production of hyaluronic acid employ, as an active ingredient, a milk basic protein fraction and/or a milk basic protein fraction decomposition product obtained by decomposing the milk basic protein fraction with a protease such as pepsin or pancreatin. The milk basic protein fraction and the milk basic protein fraction decomposition product have the effect of increasing the amount of hyaluronic acid.
