In a method for producing drip irrigation pipes, a pipe body (2) is produced through an extrusion process of a thermoplastic synthetic. The pipe body (2) is calibrated and cooled and metering elements at a distance to one another are set in place, pressed against the wall (8) of the pipe body (2) and welded thereto. The pipe body (2) is led through a drilling device in which the wall (8) is drilled in the area of each metering element. The extruded pipe body (2) exiting the extrusion device (1) is led directly and in non-contact fashion to a pre-cooling chamber (4) in which the pipe body (2) is pre-cooled and in which the metering elements (6) are connected to the wall (8) and completely pressed thereon. Then, the pipe body is led through a calibrating device (11) and calibrated to the final diameter, and arrives at the main cooling chamber (12) in which the pipe body (2) is further cooled. This provides an optimum connection between the metering element (6) and the pipe body (2).
