PURPOSE: A composition containing Mastixia arborea C.B.Clarke extract or a fraction thereof for preventing and treating inflammatory diseases is provided to suppress NO and prostaglandin E2 generation. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating inflammatory diseases contains Mastixia arborea C.B.Clarke extract or a fraction thereof as an active ingredient. Mastixia arborea C.B.Clarke is extracted using water, low carbon number alcohol of C1-C2, or a mixture thereof. The fraction is prepared using n-hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, or butanol. An external use skin formulation, a cosmetic composition, and health foods for preventing and treating inflammatory diseases contain the extract or fraction thereof as an active ingredient. [Reference numerals] (AA) Mastixia arborea(ug/ml)본 발명은 마스티시아 알보리아(Mastixia arborea C.B.Clarke) 추출물 또는 이의 분획물을 함유하는 염증성 질환 예방 및 치료용 조성물에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 마스티시아 알보리아 추출물이 염증 유발에 의해 급격히 증가하는 나이트릭옥사이드(nitric oxide)와 프로스타글란딘 E2(Prostaglandin E2) 의 생성을 억제하고, IL-6와 IL-1beta 사이토카인의 생성을 억제하며, iNOS 단백질의 발현을 농도의존적으로 저해하며, 염증신호전달 물질의 인산화를 억제하였으며, 카라기난으로 유도된 마우스 족부종 또한 억제하는 효과가 있음을 확인하였다. 특히, 이 식물의 에틸아세테이트 분획물도 NO 생성 저해효과와 족부종 억제효과가 있음을 확인하였다. 따라서, 탁월한 항염효과를 가진 마스티시아 알보리아 추출물 또는 이의 분획물이 염증관련 질환의 예방 및, 치료용 또는 개선용 조성물, 피부외용제, 화장료 조성물 및 건강식품의 유효성분으로 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
