The present disclosure relates to a method and apparatus for dividing meniscal cartilage in consideration of multiple atlas-based brightness values and shape information, and improving the result of segmentation of meniscus through patch-based contour feature classification. Accordingly, the method for automatically splitting the meniscus according to an embodiment includes: initially dividing bone and articular cartilage using an atlas similar to the target image and the target image； Determining a volume of interest (VOI) of the meniscus using the divided bone and the position of the articular cartilage； Setting a meniscus segment in the volume region of interest through multi-atlas-based regional weighted voting； And extracting contour features for the meniscal segment to improve segmentation results.본 개시는, 다중 아틀라스 기반 밝기값 및 형상 정보를 고려하여 반월상 연골을 분할한 후 패치 기반 윤곽선 특징 분류를 통해 반월상 연골의 분할 결과를 개선하는 방법 및 장치에 관한 것이다. 따라서, 일 실시 예에 따른 반월상 연골 자동 분할 방법은, 대상 영상 및 대상영상과 유사한 아틀라스를 이용하여 뼈와 관절연골을 초기 분할하는 단계； 상기 분할된 뼈와 관절연골의 위치를 이용하여 반월상 연골의 관심볼륨영역(VOI: Volume Of Interest)를 결정하는 단계； 상기 관심볼륨영역에서 다중 아틀라스 기반 지역적 가중투표를 통해 반월상 연골 분할영역을 설정하는 단계； 및 상기 반월상 연골 분할영역에 대해 윤곽선 특징을 추출하여 분할 결과를 개선하는 단계를 포함할 수 있다.
