PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a formaldehyde capturing agent having more excellent performance than when a formaldehyde capturing agent comprising only ethyleneurea or a formaldehyde capturing agent comprising only ammonia is used singly.SOLUTION: A formaldehyde capturing agent includes ethyleneurea or its derivative and an ammonium salt. The ammonium salt is one or more selected from the group consisting of ammonium sulfate, ammonium chloride and ammonium formate. Preferably, the ethyleneurea or its derivative and the ammonium salt have a mass ratio in a range of (ethyleneurea or its derivative)/(ammonium salt)=9/1 to 1/9. Preferably, the ethyleneurea or its derivative and the ammonium salt are dissolved or dispersed in water.
