The particles have a true specific gravity of 0.3 to 3.0 g/cm<；sup>；3<；/sup>；, a specific surface area (m<；sup>；2<；/sup>；/cm<；sup>；3<；/sup>；) per unit volume calculated by a BET method of not less than 0.5 and less than 60, and an average particle diameter (d<；sub>；1<；/sub>；) of 1 to 20 µm. Cosmetics containing such hollow particles have a soft texture property similar to plastic beads.
