PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscopic apparatus in which the insertion tube of an endoscope can be inserted into and retracted from piping without the problems of step, obstacle, curvature and bending, even in a piping having small diameter.
SOLUTION: The endoscope apparatus is provided with an endoscope insertion tube 3 and a driving unit 40, which inserts and retracts the endoscope insertion tube 3 into and from the piping. The driving unit 40 is provided with a frame 42 fitted to the outer circumferential part of the endoscope insertion tube 3 propelling mechanisms 50 and 60, which are provided on the frame 42 and repeat the propelling motions of the insertion tube 3 relative to the frame 42 in the axial direction A, from a front F to a rear B or from the rear B to the front F, in a state where abutting members 53 and 63 are projected sideways S from the frame 42 and are pressurized against the wall face of the piping, and repeat reciprocating motions of the insertion tube 3, relative to the frame 42 in the axial direction A, from the rear B to the front F or from the front F to the rear B, in a state where the abutting members 53 and 63 are retracted from the wall face of the piping and a driving mechanism which drives the propelling mechanisms 50 and 60.
