The invention relates to a device (1) for polishing a metal surface (2) of a metal strip (3). Said device comprises a motor (4) and a rotary shaft (5) which is connected to said rotor. A rotary plate (6) made of a rubber-elastic material and a polishing cloth (8) are arranged on one end of the rotary shaft (5) facing away from the motor (4). A cushion (7) made of a foamed material is secured to the rotary plate and the polishing cloth (8) is arranged at least on a front surface of the cushion (7) facing away from the rotary plate (6).
