PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a line-of-sight detection apparatus capable of highly accurately detecting a center of a spot image of corneal reflection light even if only a small number of pixels are available to obtain the spot image.SOLUTION: A pupil image is extracted from an image of a human eye taken by a camera and a pupil center calculation unit 25 calculates the center of the pupil. A corneal reflection light center detection unit 26 calculates the center of a spot image of reflection light from a cornea of the eye. Quadratic function interpolation means 26a is provided, which use quadratic function interpolation to determine a quadratic function from coordinates of a center of a limited number of adjacent pixels and intensity of a luminance signal obtained at the pixel. A center of corneal reflection light is determined from the coordinates to obtain the extreme value. A line-of-sight direction calculation unit 28 calculates a line-of-sight direction from the center of the cornea and the center of the corneal reflection light.
