The container defines a base (14) and side walls (20, 22) and one or more integral hooks (30) for use in hanging the plant pot from a railing (50) or the like. The rear wall of the container defines slots (32) for receiving a spacer (40) typically in the form of a preformed wire. The wire spacer has an elongate central portion which, in use, rests against the balusters or of a railing and extension portions extend downwards and away from the rear wall of the pot. In use when the plant pot is hung from a railing by its hooks (30) the extension portions (44) space the central portion from the rear wall of the plant pot. The angle of the extension portions may be adjusted by bending the wire to level the pot. The pot is formed from a moulded plastics material, such as a polymer or a mixture of polymers and the hooks, container and slots are integrally moulded. The pot and integral handles are self-supporting and the arrangement does not require a separate frame to support the pot. Fig 8
