Es werden Sorghumhirsepflanzen zur Verfügung gestellt, die durch Modifikationen im Genom, die eine pollenspezifisch exprimierte Patatin-Phospholipase betreffen, in der Lage sind Haploidie zu induzieren, wodurch haploide Nachkommen erzeugt und in kurzer Zeit durch Chromosomenverdopplung Inzuchtlinien, d.h. reinerbige Vater- und Mutterlinien, für die Hybridzüchtung hergestellt werden können.
