PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gel-forming wound dressing which overcomes some of problems of tissue ingrowth while filling a wound and allowing an exudate to flow out of the wound site when a vacuum is applied.SOLUTION: A wound dressing for use in vacuum wound therapy comprises a wound contact layer which is an open structure comprising a yarn comprising gel-forming filaments or fibers.
