An electrosurgical system (1), comprises an electrosurgical generator (20) configured to generate a phased electrosurgical voltage and an electrosurgical instrument (100, 200). The instrument includes a core (102, 202) having an elongated body portion (103, 203) and at least one channel defined therein a plurality of electrodes (110a, b, c 210 a, b, c) disposed about the core, each of the plurality of the electrodes coupled to the electrosurgical generator such that the phased electrosurgical voltage supplied to the plurality of electrodes generates a potential difference between at least two of the plurality of the electrodes and a plurality of spring conductors (116a, 116b, 216a) disposed within the at least one channel and configured to couple each of the plurality of electrodes to the electrosurgical generator.
