A device and method to test the sincerity of physical effort of an individual.The device has a moveable member (20), a sensor (14) for measuring forceapplied to the shaft； and a resistance means (32) to vary the resistance tomovement of the moveable member. The relationship between the varied resistiveforce applied to the moveable member and the measured force may be determinedto establish the sincerity of effort of the user.
