The present invention relates to a novel serine derivative compound and a use thereof and, more specifically, to a serine derivative compound, and a pharmaceutical composition comprising the compound as an effective component for preventing or treating/alleviating central nervous system diseases. The compound of chemical formula (I) of the present invention and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof exhibit significantly improved blood vessel-brain barrier permeability compared to L-serine, activates the proliferation of nerve cells, and exhibits excellent effects in preventing, treating, and alleviating central nervous system diseases through protective effects on nerve cells. Thus, the compound or the like may be beneficially used in the drug industry, food industry, and animal husbandry.본 발명은 혈관-뇌 관문 (blood-brain barrier, BBB)에 대한 투과력이 개선된 신규한 세린 유도체 화합물 (serine derivative compound) 및 이의 용도에 관한 것으로서, 보다 구체적으로는, L-세린 (L-serine)과 비교하여 혈관-뇌 관문 투과력이 보다 개선된 신규한 세린 유도체 화합물과 상기 화합물을 유효성분으로 포함하는 인지장애, 지적장애, 소뇌증, 뇌전증, 신경발달장애, 치매, 자폐스펙트럼장애, 다운증후군, 레트증후군, 취약X증후군, 알츠하이머병, 파킨슨병, 헌팅턴병 및 근위축성 측색 경화증 등의 중추신경계 질환 (centralnervous system diseases)의 예방 또는 치료/개선를 위한 약학 조성물 등에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 중추신경계 질환의 예방 또는 치료용 약학적 조성물 등의 유효성분으로서 화학식 (Ⅰ)의 화합물 또는 이의 약학적으로 허용 가능한 염은 L-세린과 비교하여 현저히 개선된 혈관-뇌 관문 투과율을 나타내며, 신경세포의 증식을 활성화시키고, 산화적 스트레스에 의한 미토콘드리아 막전위 손상 및/또는 소포체 스트레스에 따른 신경세포사멸을 억제하는 신경세포 보호 효과를 통하여 인지장애, 지적장애, 소뇌증, 뇌전증, 신경발달장애, 치매, 자폐스펙트럼장애, 다운증후군, 레트증후군, 취약X증후군, 알츠하이머병, 파킨슨병, 헌팅턴병 및 근위축성 측색 경화증 등의 중추신경계 질환의 예방, 치료 및 개선의 효과가 우수하므로, 상기 화합물 등은 의약 산업, 식품 산업 및 축산업에 매우 유용한 발명이다.
