The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for oral application, said composition comprising methylcellulose and simeticone as the active agents. The pharmaceutical composition is used in the treatment of a gastrointestinal disorder in a subject in need thereof, in particular wherein the gastrointestinal disorder is associated with reduced bowel function, reduced bowel movements and/or indigestion as well as in the treatment of constipation, preferably chronic constipation, more preferably chronic idiopathic constipation.
