The disclosure relates to the use of penflufen (figure I) for protecting wood and wood-containing materials against wood destroying basidiomycetes. A further compound from the group of the benzimidazoles, imidazoles, morpholine derivatives, copper compounds, tebuconazole, propiconazole, permethrin, etofenprox, bifenthrin, cypermethrin or sulphonamides may also be used. The disclosure also relates to compositions comprising penflufen and either copper oxide and thiabendazole and a process for protecting wood and wood-comprising materials by treating them with penflufen.
