The present invention relates to the use of a compound for the treatment of angiogenesis-related diseases by inhibiting HIF-1 alpha activity. More specifically, the present invention relates to the use of HIF-1 alpha inhibitor as a therapeutic agent for cancer and diabetic retinopathy and rheumatoid arthritis, which are angiogenesis-related diseases. HIF-1α is a transcription factor derived from hypoxia that causes cancer cells to become malignant and resistant to anticancer agents. It inhibits the expression of HIF-1.alpha.
