The present invention provides beverage preservative systems for use in highacid beverage products, and beverageproducts comprising the beverage preservative systems. The beveragepreservative system prevents spoilage by microorganisms ina beverage within a sealed container for a period of at least 16 weeks. Thepresent invention reduces or eliminates the use of conventionalpreservatives that pose health and/or environmental concerns. The componentsthat make up the beverage preservativesystem of invention work together in a synergistic manner to reduce the amountof preservative required and so improve the inventivebeverage's sensory impact over beverages having conventional preservatives.
