A bone fastening assembly (31) for use with a screw (34) and including a bone plate(32) and a bushing (33) having a bore (74) adapted for receiving the screw. Thebone plate has a substantially planar portion and is provided with a hole (56)in the portion for receiving the bushing. The portion of the bone plate and thebushing are cooperatively configured for providing pivotal movement of thebushing within the hole about a pivot axis (127) and restricting the pivot axisto a plane extending in the portion of the bone plate. A new bone attachment screwfor use with the bone fastening assembly is provided.
