The invention disclosed concerns an injection device for apportioning set doses of a drug from a reservoir to a subject. The injection device comprises a rotatable scale drum which is screwed out from the proximal end of the injection device when a dose is set. The rotatable scale drum is coupled to a piston rod drive through a push button and a connector pipe. When setting a dose, the push button engages the scale drum such that both the push button and the scale drum rotate away from the housing. During injection, the scale drum is released from the push button and engaged with the connector pipe in order to rotate the piston rod.
