PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which a plurality of patients who could be treated while an existing system was operated cannot be treated, when replacing the whole therapy system for update because adjustment and testing of a new system require time, resulting in treatment stop for a long period, by applying an update method which allows execution of update work (additional implementation, adjustment and testing of the new system) during a time when no treatment is performed such as nighttime or holidays while maintaining treatment at the existing system so as to eliminate impact of treatment stop at the existing system.SOLUTION: A system update method of a particle therapy system includes a step for providing a new beam transport system so as to branch from an existing beam transport system of the particle therapy system, and a step for proving new equipment connected to the new beam transport system. The branch is provided at a straight line part of the existing beam transport system.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3【課題】治療システムを1式交換しての更新の場合、調整、試験には時間がかかるため、治療停止期間が長期化してしまい、既設システムが稼動していた場合に治療できていた患者数を治療できなくなってしまうことが問題である。既設システムでの治療を維持した状態で、夜間や休日など治療していない時間に更新作業（新たなシステムの追設、調整、試験）を実施できるような更新方法とすることで、既設システムでの治療停止の影響をなくすことを目的とする。【解決手段】 粒子線治療システムのシステム更新方法であって、前記粒子線治療システムの既設ビーム輸送系から分岐するように、新たなビーム輸送系を設けるステップと、前記新たなビーム輸送系に接続された新たな設備を設けるステップを有し、前記分岐は、前記既設ビーム輸送系の直線部分に設けることを特徴とする粒子線治療システム更新方法。【選択図】 図３
