Agents for oxidative hair dyeing, containing 70-95 wt.% water, oxidation dye precursor(s), alkalizing agents, 0.1-2.0 wt.% anionic, zwitterionic or amphoteric tenside/surfactant, 0.1-1.5 wt.% sodium polyacrylate and optionally a saturated C2-C8 alkanol with two or three hydroxy groups. No C1-C50 saturated or unsaturated monoalcohols or C2-C50 saturated or unsaturated alkyl carboxylic acids should be present. Furthermore, no oxidizing agents should be present in the formulation. Preferably the sodium polyacrylate is pre-gelled in a water-in-oil emulsion and an alkalizing agent is present. In a preferred embodiment the agent comprises monoethanolamine, sodium polyacrylate (as a water in mineral oil emulsion with trideceth-6 as an emulsifier), sodium laureth sulphate and acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer. Methods for using the agent and kits containing the agent are also disclosed.
