New doses and methods for administering telavancin or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof to a human patient with an infection caused by Staphylococcus aureus, such as bacteremia, pneumonia, endocarditis, osteomyelitis, an infection of the prosthetic joint, or a complicated infection of the skin and subcutaneous tissue are described. Also described are methods for treating Staphylococcus aureus infection in a human patient using telavancin or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
