Provided herein are methods of treating or ameliorating Barrett's esophagus by administering to an individual in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of an Apical Sodium-dependent Bile Acid Transporter Inhibitor (ASBTI) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. Provided herein are methods of treating or ameliorating gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) by administering to an individual in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of an ASBTI or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. Also provided are methods for treating or ameliorating symptoms or complications associated with Barrett's esophagus or GERD comprising administering to an individual in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of ASBTI or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.En el presente documento se proporcionan métodos para tratar o mejorar el esófago de Barrett mediante la administración a un individuo en necesidad del mismo, una cantidad terapéuticamente efectiva de un Inhibidor del Transportador Apical de Ácidos Biliares Dependiente de Sodio (ASBTI por sus siglas en inglés) o una sal farmacéuticamente aceptable del mismo. En el presente documento se proporcionan métodos para tratar o mejorar la Enfermedad de Reflujo Gastroesofágico (GERD por sus siglas en inglés) mediante la administración a un individuo en necesidad del mismo, una cantidad terapéuticamente efectiva de un ASBTI o una sal farmacéuticamente aceptable del mismo. También se proporcionan métodos para tratar o mejorar los síntomas o complicaciones asociadas con el esófago de Barrett o GERD, que comprende administrar a un individuo en necesidad del mismo, una cantidad terapéuticamente efectiva de ASBTI o una sal farmacéuticamente aceptable del mismo.
