PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for treating patients suffering from a myocardial infarction, in particular acute myocardial infarction, or a method for reducing adverse consequence of myocardial infarction in patients.SOLUTION: Provided herein is a method for reducing adverse consequence of a myocardial infarction in a patient comprising a step of administering a TGF-β antagonist to a patient in the acute stage of the myocardial infarction.
