There are some specific precautions in the procedure which a beginner must be acquainted with. Biopsies can be taken with the help of biopsy forceps. Therapeutic procedures are possible with this instrument e.g. retrieval of foreign bodies, Pleurodesis, negotiation of chest tubes in cases of loculated empyema or pneuthorax.
