The invention relates to a use of an Origanum vulgare extract for anti-oxidation by applying an effective does of the Origanum vulgare extract to skin for effectively scavenging free radicals, wherein the Origanum vulgare extract is manufactured by at least one organic solvent extraction step. Accordingly, the Origanum vulgare extract can be further utilized in manufacturing cosmetic compositions or pharmaceutical compositions for anti-oxidation, so as to protect skin cells from UV damage.
