PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray phase imaging apparatus capable of preventing an occurrence of a phase fold in an image caused by a positional deviation of a grating.SOLUTION: An X-ray phase imaging apparatus includes: a plurality of gratings at least including an X-ray source 1, a phase grating G1 onto which an X-ray is irradiated from the X-ray source 1, and an absorption grating G2 onto which an X-ray passing through the phase grating G1 is irradiated; a detection part 2 for detecting the X-ray passing through the absorption grating G2; and an image generation part 6 for generating an X-ray phase contrast image 42 based on a phase difference Δφ between a step curve 21 indicating a change in the intensity of the X-ray detected by the detection part 2 when a subject T is placed between the X-ray source 1 and the phase grating G1, or between the phase grating G1 and the absorption grating G2, and a step curve 22 when the subject T is not placed.
