An adhesive composition comprising at least one gelling agent in combination with one or more non-gelling disintegrants is disclosed. The adhesive compositions exhibit relatively high fluid throughput and static absorption characteristics, thus making their use possible in a variety of medical applications. Various adhesive articles are also disclosed, such as dressing using adhesive compositions and related use methods.
