The body portion (14) includes a camming member (46), a clip follower (44) and a lockout member (66) having a plurality of stop members. The lockout member (66) is movable from a first position in slidable relation to the camming member (46) to a second position interlocked with the camming member (46). The camming member (46) has at least one notch, and in a second position the lockout member (66) has at least one 10 of the stop members positioned to interface with the at least one notch. The engagement between the stop member and the notch limits distal movement of the camming member (46). The clip follower (44) actuates the lockout member when the clip follower (44) advances to a predetermined clip (86) in the clip stack (88).1/29 -
