PURPOSE: A composition containing bioavailable low molecular fucoidan for treating obesity is provided to suppress adipose enlargement and suppression of zymogen. CONSTITUTION: A low molecular fucoidan composition for treating obesity contains fucoidan having 1,000-20,000 Da of molecular weight. The low molecular fucoidan is prepared by hydrolysis using 0.1-10 N of organic acid. The organic acid is pyruvic acid, citric acid, acetic acid or mixture selected form the same. The organic acid is pyruvic acid or citric acid and acetic acid in a volume ratio of 1:2-1:20. The composition is used by oral administration.본 발명은 생체이용성 저분자량 후코이단을 포함하는 비만치료용 조성물에 관한 것으로, 구체적으로는 피루브산, 구연산, 아세트산 중 어느 하나의 유기산이나, 피루브산 또는 구연산과 아세트산을 1:2~1:20의 부피비로 혼합한 유기산을 이용하여 가수분해함으로써, 평균분자량을 1,000~20,000Da으로 낮추는 동시에 점도를 낮추고 수용해도를 높여 생체이용률을 높인 저분자량 후코이단을 포함하는 비만치료용 조성물에 관한 것이다.본 발명에 따른 저분자량 후코이단을 포함하는 비만치료용 조성물은 체중의 증가 및 지방세포의 비대를 억제하고, 비만과 관련이 깊은 leptin 및 adiponectin의 증가나 zymogen과립의 감소를 억제하므로, 비만의 치료 및 예방에 효과가 있으며, 뿐만 아니라, LDL, triglyceride 및 total cholesterol 함량 증가와 HDL의 감소를 억제하므로, 고지혈증을 치료 및 예방하는 효과가 있다.
