The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating cancer containing an agent for inhibiting expression of a LY6/PLAUR domain containing 1 (LYPD1) gene, an agent for inhibiting activities of LYPD1 protein, or a mixture thereof as an active ingredient, a cancer diagnostic composition containing a preparation for measuring a level of mRNA encoding the LYPD1 gene or a protein thereof, and a cancer diagnostic kit containing the diagnostic composition.
