PURPOSE: A sustained release tablet composition containing guanfacine is provided to control proper particle size of guanfacine and to uniformly disperse guanfacine. CONSTITUTION: A sustained release tablet composition contains: 55-65 wt% of lactose as a diluents； 13-17 wt% of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose as a polymer for controlling neutral water-swellable release； 13-17 wt% of sodium polyacrylate as a polymer for controlling anionic water-swellable release； 3-5 wt% of croscarmellose sodium as a disintegrant, 2-4 wt% of polyvinyl pyrrolidone as a binder； and 0.8-1.2 wt% of magnesium stearate as a lubricant in 2 wt% of guanfacine. A method for manufacturing the composition comprises: a step of mixing lactose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, sodium polyacrylate, croscarmellose sodium, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, and magnesium stearate in guanfacine and granulating the mixture； and a step of pressing and tableting the mixture.
