To provide a portable infusion pump.SOLUTION: There is provided a portable infusion pump, a pump assembly 200, a cartridge 100, base plates 500, 501, and 502, a cannula 600, an insertion tool 503, and related components, a combination of these items, and a related method. An exemplary medicine cartridge 100 may include a barrel for defining at least a substantial part of a medicine reservoir having a certain total filling volume, and a plunger movable with respect to the barrel for dispensing from the reservoir the medicine in the amount of 0.1% or less of the total filling volume of the reservoir so as to control the amount with a degree of single dose administration precision exceeding +/-20%.
