The present invention provides a moisturizing topical preparation containing as an active ingredient at least one selected from pentosan polysulfate and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof as well as solvates of these pharmaceutically acceptable pentosan polysulfates as a novel moisturizing topical preparation. Because the moisturizing topical preparation of the present invention has a substance free of animal-derived components as the active ingredient, it can be produced as a moisturizing topical preparation free of animal-derived components as needed.
