The respiratory system includes a source of pressurized gas connected to a nebulizer containing a drug. The nebulizer is connected to the breathing unit. The pressure sensitive switch detects the negative pressure of the breathing unit due to inspiration and opens to supply a flow of pressurized gas to the nebulizer. The pressure sensitive switch is configured to close before the end of inspiration. During the remainder of the inspiration cycle, residual medication in the system is removed from the system and delivered to the patient. The compressor provides positive pressure to help deliver the drug to the patient.
