Metal implants (10) are treated by anodising the surface (11, 12) in contact with an electrolyte, and then briefly subjecting the anodised surface to a reversed voltage. During a first anodising stage the surfaces are passivated, while during a subsequent anodising stage pits are formed in the passivating surface layer. Rough portions (15) of the surface, in particular portions produced by plasma spraying of metal powder, are sealed with a watertight cover (20) during at least part of the anodising process. After rinsing, biocidal metal ions are subsequently absorbed into the surface of the implant. This provides the implant with biocidal properties. The use of the cover (20) enables a more uniform geometric distribution of biocidal metal ions to be achieved.La présente invention concerne des implants métalliques (10) qui sont traités par anodisation de la surface (11, 12) en contact avec un électrolyte, puis par brève soumission de la surface anodisée à une tension inversée. Lors d'une première étape d'anodisation, les surfaces sont passivées tandis que, lors d'une étape d'anodisation ultérieure, des fosses sont formées dans la couche superficielle de passivation. Des parties rugueuses (15) de la surface, en particulier des parties produites par projection au plasma de poudres métalliques, sont scellées avec un couvercle étanche (20) pendant au moins une partie du procédé d'anodisation. Après rinçage, les ions métalliques biocides sont ensuite absorbés par la surface de l'implant. L'implant bénéficie ainsi de propriétés biocides. L'utilisation du couvercle (20) assure une répartition géométrique plus uniforme des ions métalliques biocides.
