The present disclosure relates to portable miniature nitric oxide (NO) generation systems and methods that can be implanted or used alone in other therapeutic devices. In some embodiments, the mobile NO production system can be configured with a controller and a disposable cartridge. The cartridge may include filters and collectors that produce the gas used for NO production and purify the output gas prior to patient inhalation. This system can utilize an oxygen concentrator to increase the production of nitric oxide and complement the operation of the oxygen generator as a stand-alone unit. The system may also include a high voltage electrode assembly that is easy to assemble and install. A variety of nitric oxide delivery methods are provided, including the use of nasal cannulas.
