PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eukaryotic microorganism infection inhibitor, to provide a method for screening candidate compounds for the eukaryotic microorganism infection inhibitor, to provide a method for preventing/controlling the diseases of eukaryotic microorganisms with the inhibitor, and to provide a kit.
SOLUTION: It has first been found that an MSTU1 gene product controls the metabolism (glycerol biosynthesis) of Piricularia oryzae and imparts functions to organs (appressorium) necessary for the infection of the Piricularia oryzae. It has been clarified that Piricularia oryzae invasion mycelium formation is inhibited by the expression of the MSTU1 gene product. The expression or function of the MSTU1 gene product can be adjusted (inhibited or promoted) with a medicine or the like to control diseases.
