PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for nondestructively and easily assuming a horizontal distribution of root system, in view of the fact that the distribution and condition of root system of greening trees are important information for performing protection management of trees such as transplantation and tree treatment.SOLUTION: This method for assuming the root system distribution of trees comprises giving vibration to the trunk of a tree, measuring oscillatory wave caused from the vibration of the tree in many places in soil around the trunk, preferably, places on a plurality of concentric circles, centering the trunk of the tree, and positioned on a radial linear line generating from the trunk, and assuming the root system distribution of the tree by the measured value.COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT【課題】緑化樹木の根系の分布や状態は、移植や樹木の治療等、樹木の保護管理を行う上で重要な情報であるが、本発明は根系の水平的分布等を非破壊かつ簡便に推定しうる方法及び装置を提供する。【解決手段】樹木の幹に振動を与えるとともに、当該樹木の上記振動に起因する振動波を当該幹の周辺の土壌の多数箇所、望ましくは、樹木の幹を中心とした複数の同心円上であって、かつ当該幹より発する放射直線上に位置する箇所において測定し、その測定値により樹木の根系分布を推定することを特徴とする方法である。【選択図】図4
